Who is this for?

This table read is for Actors who want to be successful PROFESSIONAL Actors! It is only $25 to participate, and it is hosted by Emmy-nominated Ashley Atwood, the director of the premier acting school, The Desert Playhouse. We run this class as if it were a Professional SAG/AFTRA Job, with a mock audition process. You will get feedback on your audition tape, and during the course of the zoom class we learn how to quickly understand scripts, what needs to be pulled from them to make quick choices, prepare for professional table reads, and start to learn how to spot those true gems of an amazing script! We'll be doing these twice a month, and each month will have a different theme.

Payment Policy:

There are no refunds for this class. This class is very labor intensive for me behind the scenes. If you do not turn in your audition, then that’s on you. Just as it’s looked on as a No-Show in the professional world, the consequence will be on you if you do not do your work. If something comes up and you can no longer attend the Table Read, then my suggestion would be to let me know ASAP and still turn in your audition so you can receive your written feedback. I wont cast you in the TR and you can always watch the replay. You’d still be eligible for the one-on-one Audition Review Session too.

The following are roles that need to be cast for this project:

All roles are what you could PLAY. I am open to casting outside the box as long as it makes sense to the story! Ethnicity is NOT a consideration so, please submit openly. Even IF you are not cast, you are still invited to come to the class and learn from others. You are also still eligible for an audition review.

I want to join the next table read!
NICE TO MEET YOU,

I'm Ashley!

I grew up in a small town in Texas, and knew at 12 years old that I wanted to be a performer. Bless my momma’s heart, may she rest in peace, she didn’t know how to guide me to the professional world, but she did the best she could. I had all the training our money could buy. I went to school for Dance, Singing, Acting, and I even earned a degree in Dance all before I moved to New York City bright eyed and positive NYC had been waiting for my arrival!

This set me up for some of the worst years of my life, recovering from Trauma that was a result of being in desperate situations I wasn't trained to handle. This is why I teach the business of Show-Business. I never want my students having to endure the pain I went through.

It wasn’t until I was encouraged to take control of my career did my life actually turn around. I produced my first short film, Mimi’s Misadventure, using money my mother had left me, and suddenly I picked up some momentum…I was auditioning! I produced more short films, and even a little web series, and boom big features started booking. All within 3 years I was acting with John Travolta, Brendan Frasier, Ron Perlman, & David Gyasi. I was on Netflix, Hulu & Amazon and I even earned a Emmy Nomination! My career has been quite a journey, and it’s not over yet!
